JEWELRY BY LUET AND CO started out with two sisters making jewelry for friends, family and ourselves. As of 2010, we are sharing our creations with the world. Since deciding to turn our jewelry making into a business, one of our daughters has joined in on the fun. The three of us love designing and creating all of our pieces. We hope to be making jewelry for a long time to come.

Thinking Outside of the Box

No matter what industry or field you are in, you must stay one step ahead of the competition!  You must have good quality merchandise, be creative, etc.

Last week I found myself looking around the house to find something that I could use in creating my jewelry and possibly something that I could recycle.  Well, I am not one of those go green people (not that I am against it at all - I'm just a little lazy) and I happened upon some wine corks!  Well, I like wine and I also like jewelry - so if I could create some jewelry out of my wine corks...  I would have a win win product/situation!!!

In addition to the wine corks, my button jar caught my eye.  As a child, both of my grandmother and my mother had button jars and those jars entertained me for many hours.  So, I decided that in addition to those wine corks, I would incorporate some buttons!

My first ring was created from a "slice" of wine cork, a clear button from my jar.  I then added silver beads around the side of the cork and attached the entire piece to an adjustable ring finding!
On the next ring, I started with a button and I threaded a piece of ribbon from the bottom up and then tied a bow on the top.  I then glued the button to the "slice" of cord and added black seed beads around the side of the cork and then glued it onto a ring finding.  Pretty creative!

As you can see, the next ring is very similar to the one just above.

The final ring is just a button and it looks great by itself!

So, as you can see, thinking outside of the box can be fun and I think that you will surprise yourself at what you can actually create!  Often times we need these changes to get those creative juices flowing.  I hope that this will inspire all of you to think outside of the box!

I would love to hear from you with regard to my creations or any thoughts/ideas that you too might have!
