Did your grandmother or aunt have a button jar when you were growing up? If not, I must say that you missed out! I spent hour upon hours playing with those buttons! Those buttons were used as money, treasure, game tokens, etc. We finally convinced my grandmother to teach us how to sew those buttons onto some fabric. We sewed button after button after button… When we decided that we’d mastered that project, we came up with the idea to make doll clothes! We took our handy dandy scissors cut some fabric, cut a button, sewed that button on and YES, we had FABULOUS doll clothes! Life was good – what more could you ask for!
I’d forgotten about that button jar until one day I was at an estate sale – and much to my delight, I discovered a BUTTON JAR!! I’m sure that everyone at that estate sale thought that I was crazy!! Anyway, I bought a huge jar of buttons for little of nothing.
My daughter thought that I was crazy until I got home and explained to her what I was about to do – make jewelry with it!! I’ve made several pieces of jewelry with buttons. I'm sharing a few with you, in hopes of inspiring you!
Start collecting those buttons and start your own button jar! You’ll get hours of enjoyment from that great button jar!
I'd love to hear from you all!!
